An Optimistic Webb Returns to LOFC

Leyton Orient FC fans have yet another reason to smile, because Danny Webb has returned as Youth Team Coach. Yes, in another sign that the club is preparing to put last season’s dismal performance behind them, Webb has been praising the new structure of the club.

During an interview with leytonorient.com, Webb said that it felt great to be back at the club, and that since he left the O’s a few months back, he had been confident that there would be a takeover and turnaround. Echoing the sentiments of new Vice-Chairman and Principal Investor, Kent Teague, Webb expressed how impressed he had been by the loyalty and commitment of the O’s fans, saying “They kept turning up and supporting the team, and what I will say is that the fact of how supportive the fans were during that time will make the young players a million times better going into the first team environment under a new First Team Coach this season.”

Webb also expressed his confidence in owner Nigel Travis and Director of Football Martin Ling, and the structure that they have already put into place for the formerly rudderless club. Webb himself is eager to get working with the Leyton Orient youth team, and help them to achieve their potential as and eventually provide the O’s with the first team that they so badly need.

As far as Webb’s previous experience with the O’s goes, he explained that he enjoyed the opportunity to be involved with management, but that he is a coach at heart, and still considers himself to be learning his trade – though he would not rule out branching into management at some point in the future.

Though Web left the O’s back in March he, like so many other people connected with the Orient, he seems to have used the time to watch developments at the club closely, plan and prepare for a return once the issues that had been crippling the club had been resolved – even visiting other top clubs to see how they train and work. The enthusiasm with which he is looking forward to working with Director of Football Martin Ling, and First Team Assistant Coach Ross Embleton, speaks volumes about his passion for the club.

Webb seems filled with the hope and optimism for the future of Leyton Orient FC that we keep seeing recently, and if his confidence is a barometer of the general feeling in the club, O’s fans should have a big smile on their faces. We could not agree with him more when he said, “I think the fans can now see a direction in which we are going and it is brilliant to be a part of something where everyone is singing off the same page.”
