Chelsea eased to a win over Swansea that moves them 10 points clear at the summit of the Premiership with Costa scoring for his first goal in 4 Premiership games although Cesc Fabregas was outstanding in a rare start for the midfield dynamo for the Blues.
Blues’ January target Fernando Llorente nodded the visitors ahead before Antonio Conte’s men hit back through Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Diego Costa.
There was huge relief for Sam Allardyce and his dismal Crystal Palace team as a win over Middlesbrough lifted them out of the drop zone.
Sunderland stayed bottom after a defeat at David Moyes’ former club Everton, while Hull moved into the bottom three – along with Leicester, who play on Monday – after a draw hosting Burnley.
It still looks like a 6 horse race for relegation but Bournemouth need to be careful as another defeat this time at West Brom puts them still in some danger 6th off the bottom and I’ve seen better form from a 3 legged horse at Wincanton.
Watford and West Ham shared the points at Vicarage Road as Troy Deeney notched for his 9th of the season from the penalty spot in the evening kick off.
If you didn’t see it you didn’t miss much.

Brighton were on night shift duty on Saturday but they certainly weren’t sleeping on the job as they left the Amex Stadium with a 3-0 win over Reading to put them back to the top of the division.
Newcastle surprisingly could only draw 2-2 at home to struggling Bristol City so a great chance for the chasing pack to haul them in. 3rd placed Huddersfield fluffed their lines a bit as they could only pick up a draw at fellow Yorkshire outfit Barnsley while another Yorkshire team Leeds United beat Sheffield Wednesday by a goal to nil in the second Yorkshire derby of the day to have them sitting pretty in 3rd position.
Leeds leap Reading into 4th with the defeated Reading in 5th and Wednesday in 6th.
At the wrong end of the table Rotherham remain rooted without even being in reach of the dining cloth after a heavy defeat at Brentford.
Blackburn didn’t play so at least they didn’t lose while Wigan gained a precious point in a dour 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest and remain in sniffing distance of Bristol City.

Top placed Sheffield United edge closer to promotion with 12 games to go with a wonderful 2-0 home win over promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers in the game of the day as second placed Scunthorpe could only grind out a draw with Bristol Rovers.
Fleetwood stuffed Northampton 3-0 to leapfrog Bolton as Bradford City moved up to 5th place with a 2-1 victory over Port Vale in the Potteries.
At the foot of the league Coventry City look in more trouble than a Sutton United pasty masquerading as a pie as they slumped to another defeat at home to 3rd bottom Swindon Town but alas they came a cropper losing out 3-1.
It was a good day for Swindon as relegation rivals Chesterfield were hammered 4-0 by Oxford United. Conor McAleny scored a hat trick as Oxford’s pursuit of a play-off place gathered momentum with a convincing win. Port Vale as we know lost so only Oldham who nabbed a home point against a weary cup involved Millwall got anything other than Swindon points wise.

League Two leaders Doncaster dropped points for the fifth consecutive game as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a courageous Accrington. Jonny Edwards netted an equaliser nine minutes from time to deny Rovers, who are now three points clear of Plymouth at the top who drew 1-1 away at Luton Town.
Get the taxidermist away from Carlisle as they were stuffed by an inform Portsmouth team 3-0. The victory lifts Pompey above the drawing Luton into 4th and puts them just three points behind Carlisle in that all important 3rd automatic promotion spot.
At the bottom Newport lost again but then so did the hapless Leyton Orient and the slightly less hapless Hartlepool just above them. Notts County picked up a point but still drop a place as Cheltenham Rocketed away from imminent danger with the win away at Orient.
