Or should That be Feet?
Wow! What a weekend of football that was. Harry Kane, who is on course for a European Golden Boot, demolished Liverpool, whose defenders looked like they were all wearing concrete boots.
Liverpool fresh from an impressive win over an admittedly poor Maribor side midweek simply had no answer to the enigma that is Harry Kane. Kane added another brace to take his tally to 8 from the first nine games. With his shots to goal ratio now being the highest in Europe (better even than Ronaldo or Messi!) it is surely a matter of time before he bangs four or five in against some poor unfortunate EPL team. Return fixture perhaps?
Manchester United lost to Huddersfield. Yes, I will just repeat that. Manchester United lost to Huddersfield who last defeated the mighty reds 86 years ago!
Manchester City won at home 3-0 against a spirited Burnley side who were still in the game up until the 73rd minute. Admittedly my prediction of a draw for this game seems a little silly now, but this game was a testament to just how good this current Manchester city side is right now.
Chelsea win 4-2 at home against one of the teams of the season so far, Watford. Watford were 2-1 up for much of the game and poised to create yet another upset until substitute Michy Batshuayi came on and bagged himself a brace in the last twenty minutes. This result sees Chelsea go fourth.
Ronald Koeman beats Slaven Bilic in the battle to be the next EPL manager to qualify for jobseeker’s allowance. Neither manager has been able to halt the inevitable slide into obscurity that their respective teams have been going through. However, it was the Dutchman who will be first in the queue at the local Jobcentre Plus.
Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle meanwhile are at the other end of the fortune scale having secured a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. They now move into 6th place in the league. If the rumours prove to be true and Newcastle get taken over by a consortium of investors prepared to make significant funds available to the Spaniard, then that would be a massive boost for the North East.
