CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW: ROUND OF 16

After a 149-day wait, Champions League betting returns with huge fixtures among European football’s elite. Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Etihad, while Juventus look to overturn Lyon at the Allianz Stadium.

With some of the greatest teams in the world set to lock horns, join us as we analyse exciting betting options for second leg fixtures of the round of 16.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING

Juventus

Juventus have once again established themselves as the dominant force in Italian football, ending the season with their ninth Serie A Scudetto in a row. Although they finished their campaign just one point above their nearest rivals, Juventus found the time to rest key players during their final fixtures – with their attention already fixed on the Champions League.

The Bianconeri head into their Friday fixture in desperate need of goals; their 1-0 away loss in the first leg left them bloodied but not yet beaten. Having shown no signs of slowing down, Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line and look to add to his already impressive tally of 35 goals, with his chances of scoring calculated at 7/12 (1.58).

Sarri’s men will take nothing for granted this Friday, but they can take confidence from their incredible win record at home which has solidified their reputation as an exceptional team and established the Allianz Stadium as a fortress.

Lyon

Lyon attained their first-ever victory over the Italian champions last February courtesy of a left-footed effort by Lucas Tousart – upsetting the pre-match predictions and stunning both fans and pundits alike.

With the Ligue 1 season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Les Gones have enjoyed a long break which has allowed attacking talismans Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adelaide to recover from long-term knee injuries and possibly make the starting lineup this Friday.

Knowing that a clean sheet will see them through, but an away goal could make all the difference, Rudi Garcia may set his team up similarly to their Coupe de la Ligue final blueprint from last week. Having withstood a Paris Saint-Germain onslaught for 120 minutes, Lyon may look to emulate their counter-attacking strategy against the Italian champs and make use of their fast-breaking strikeforce to possibly clinch a historic result.

JUVENTUS VS LYON: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Juventus come out as strong favourites, at 3/7 (1.43) to win, while Lyon sport odds of 33/5 (7.60) to once again upset the Italian champions.

Manchester City

Although they have secured silverware in the EFL Cup, disappointment in the Premier League and FA Cup has left Manchester City looking towards the Champions League as a way to finish their season with a bang.

The Citizens go into their fixture this Friday with a 2-1 advantage, having dismantled Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium – courtesy of goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne. City will face an entirely different beast this Friday, with the freshly-crowned La Liga champions the form team in Europe (alongside Bayern Munich) since the resumption of domestic action. Guardiola will be focused on shoring up a defence which has been guilty of costly errors on several occasions this season.

With Sergio Aguero’s ruled out of participation this Friday due to a knee injury, the pressure will be on Gabriel Jesus to deliver the goods at 10/11 (1.91) and see his side past the Spanish champions.

Real Madrid

Almost five months have passed since this fixture was initially due to take place; the Real Madrid team that visits the Etihad now is a different proposition to that from the first leg.

A disappointing 2-1 loss at home, which also saw the red card dismissal of their talismanic captain Sergio Ramos, haunts fans of Los Blancos. However, hope remains in the form of Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois who have both been vital in Real Madrid’s post-lockdown resurgence, leading their team from the back and front respectively.

Real Madrid will head into their fixture with the weight of their prestigious Champions League history heavy upon their shoulders. With their players knowing exactly what is expected when they put on the white shirt and represent Los Blancos, anything but a win for Zidane’s team will be deemed unacceptable.

MANCHESTER CITY VS REAL MADRID: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

As the home team, Manchester City are favourites, at 5/7 (1.71), to go on and win, with Real Madrid’s chances measured at 67/20 (4.35).

EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 32

Following a weekend that saw the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City progress into the FA Cup semi-finals, the Premier League returns to screens around the globe with a host of midweek fixtures and plenty of interesting EPL betting in Week 32.

Chelsea hammered the final nail in the coffin that was Manchester City’s title aspirations last Thursday, allowing Liverpool to deservedly claimed their 19th league title; securing their first-place position with an outstanding 86 points in only 31 games.

Although it will be Liverpool’s name engraved on the trophy, parts of the 2019/20 Premier League story still need to be written.

Join us this week as we dive into the EPL and witness champions clashing at the Etihad, alongside intense battles throughout the table for European places.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Manchester City

A 2-1 defeat away to Chelsea last week saw Manchester City part ways with their Premier League crown, putting Liverpool well and truly beyond their grasp. In a cruel twist of fate, the ex-champions will now be the first to welcome the new champs and form a guard of honour for Klopp’s men, as the two sides face one another this Thursday at the Etihad.

Although City’s attention may be on securing silverware in other competitions, Pep Guardiola will demand his team continue their five-year unbeaten run against Liverpool at home in the league, and set down a marker for next season against the newly crowned champions.

Liverpool

Having secured their first title in 30 years, Liverpool head to the Etihad Stadium this Thursday, eager to claim their first win as champions against Manchester City. Although this fixture is no longer a title decider, the intense rivalry between these sides should ensure that the match is anything but a formality.

With key first-team players Aguero and Fernandinho both unavailable for selection for Manchester City, Liverpool will look to exploit an under-strength side. Victory against the team who pipped them to the title last year would push the Reds another step closer to breaking records for wins and points in the league. Klopp’s men must look to emulate their performance from their previous encounter, where they took the full three points via a 3-1 victory at Anfield.

MANCHESTER CITY VS LIVERPOOL: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

As the two best sides in the country are set to lock horns, Manchester City come out on top at 35/33 (2.06) to win, with the champions, Liverpool looking at odds of 47/20 (3.35).

West Ham United

West Ham United continue their fight to secure a place in the Premier League next season, as they welcome Chelsea in a London derby this Thursday. David Moyes’s team toes the right-side of the relegation line by virtue of goal difference; Hammers fans know that their team is in dire need of points having lost both games since the restart.

Few West Ham United fans will expect a repeat of the reverse fixture which saw Aaron Cresswell secure the win for his team with the only goal of the day. With David Moyes’s side plagued by injuries, the Hammers go into the fixture knowing that they will need to beat Chelsea the hard way – without the likes of club record-singing Sebastian Haller and defender Arthur Masuaku.

Chelsea

Chelsea, on the other hand, find themselves fighting it out at the other end of the table in fourth spot, looking to secure a valuable place in the Champions League for next season.

With three wins out of three since the restart – beating the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City and Leicester City, Frank Lampard’s team go into the London derby fully expecting all three points. Recent good news emanating from Stamford Bridge also suggests that Christian Pulisic may be up for selection this week against the Hammers after limping off in his last appearance.

WEST HAM UNITED VS CHELSEA: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Unsurprisingly Chelsea come out as favourites at 3/5 (1.60) to win, with the chances of West Ham United causing an upset calculated at 9/2 (5.50).

Everton

Everton’s restart to the league has seen the Toffees face opponents from opposite ends of the table, drawing to the newly crowned champions and beating last-place Norwich City on the road.

Although still not where they want to be (currently in 12th place), a home win this Wednesday against Leicester City could propel Ancelotti’s side up the league, to just one point behind Tottenham in 7th. With their stand-out youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin available and enjoying the best season of his career with a total of 13 Premier League goals, Everton should head into their fixture against the Foxes oozing confidence.

Leicester City

Still searching for their first Premier League victory since the restart, the Foxes travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton. Going into the match, all eyes will be fixed on Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy to spark a repeat of the 2-1 win earlier this season in the reverse fixture. Leading the charts as the current Premier League top goalscorer with 19 goals, the Englishman is at 13/10 (2.30) to add to his tally this Wednesday night and presents an interesting option for EPL betting in Week 32.

With Chelsea cutting the gap to third place to just a point, and Manchester United hot on their heels, Brendan Rodgers will prepare his team for a tough contest, in which they must come out on top. Foxes fans know that a win has the potential to put some distance between themselves and their rivals, and possibly secure a Champions League qualification spot for next season.

EVERTON VS LEICESTER CITY: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

On account of their recent form and home advantage, Everton are favourited at 14/9 (2.55) to win, with Leicester City’s chances measured at 19/10 (2.90).

EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 31

We’ll explore your options for EPL betting in Week 31 as English football teams continue to find their feet in the latest set of crowd-less, socially distanced fixtures that are set to take place in the next few days.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Manchester United

Following another mistake from goalkeeper David de Gea, the Red Devils found themselves chasing a well-organised Tottenham team for most of the game last Friday. Victory for former manager Jose Mourinho would prove elusive though, as Eric Dier’s late shove on Paul Pogba gifted United the chance to share the points, with Bruno Fernandes converting their 11th penalty of the season.

Now unbeaten across 12 games in all competitions, Manchester United welcome Sheffield United to Old Trafford this Wednesday. As things stand, fifth place will be good enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team to gain entry into the Champions League (Man City’s appeal pending). Still, Manchester United must avoid a repeat of their previous 3-3 draw earlier this season to guarantee their spot, as teams below them will be looking to capitalise on any dropped points.

Sheffield United

It’s safe to say that the restart of the league has not gone the way Sheffield United would have wanted. A highly controversial decision not to award a clear goal against Aston Villa, and a red-card followed by a flurry of three goals conceded against Newcastle, has left the Blades at odds with their previous form this season.

With a difficult game against Manchester United up next, Chris Wilder must sharpen his Blades and get them back to the mentality that saw them attain one of the best defensive records in the league – second only to the league leaders.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS SHEFFIELD UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

As the home team, Manchester United at 5/12 (1.42) to win, come out very much on top with Sheffield United measured at 81/10 (9.10).

Liverpool

Liverpool will entertain Crystal Palace this Wednesday as the league leaders return to Anfield for the first time in almost three months. Coming off an uninspiring 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby last weekend, the Reds are now just five points away from securing their first Premier League title in over 30 years.

Klopp’s men will be bolstered against the Eagles by the return to the starting XI of both Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson. While Liverpool can’t win the title against Palace, a win will mean that the Reds could potentially claim the Premier League title at the home of current champions, Manchester City, on 2 July.

Crystal Palace

It’s been a season of exceeding expectations for Palace who are looking to secure some form of European football for the next season and remain positioned to record their best-ever Premier League points tally. A 2-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend propelled the Eagles into the top half of the League, positioning them at the centre of a mid-table battle, right-between Arsenal and Tottenham.

Heading into the fixture with a degree of positivity, Roy Hodgson will hope that his team are capable of emulating their emphatic 2-1 victory at Anfield back in April 2017, which, incidentally, was the last time this Liverpool team lost at their home ground in the Premier League.

LIVERPOOL VS CRYSTAL PALACE: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Probably the most predictable odds in EPL betting for week 31, Liverpool are at 13/50 (1.26) to win, enter the matchup as strong favourites, with the odds of Crystal Palace causing an upset calculated at 13/1 (13.00).

Chelsea

Five minutes after coming on versus Aston Villa last weekend, super-sub Christian Pulisic made an immediate impact, scoring a goal and inspiring Chelsea’s 2-1 comeback victory. Although currently safe and five points clear of fifth place, the Blues’ fortunes could turn as they prepare themselves for a home fixture against a roaring Manchester City side this midweek.

Lampard will know that Chelsea’s rivals will bank on his team losing points this Thursday. Should they lose and their form suffers during a relatively tough stretch of fixtures to close out the season, Chelsea can still be caught by those below. The previous fixture between the sides finished with a City victory, 2-1 at the Etihad.

Manchester City

Manchester City have made an exceptional comeback to the Premier League, scoring eight goals without conceding, and securing six points in their first two matches. For the first time since the restart, Pep’s team will need to travel south for their first away fixture.

With the bad news of Sergio Aguero’s possible season-ending injury circulating around Manchester, the responsibility of goal-scoring responsibilities will fall on other members of the squad. Fortunately for City, the likes of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez have both impressed since the restart. Pep’s men will need to be on their toes because while the previous fixture between the sides ended in victory for the Citizens, their last Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge ended in a 2-0 defeat.

CHELSEA VS MANCHESTER CITY: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

The away side enter the fixture as favourites, with Manchester City at 26/33 (1.79) to win, while Chelsea are fancied at 4.15 (63/20) to cause an upset.

PREVIEW: PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN

After a 100-day shutdown, fans of the English Premier League welcome the return of top-flight football this Wednesday. Aston Villa host Sheffield United, before Arsenal travel to take on Manchester City at the Etihad.

Join us for a detailed preview into the first Premier League fixtures to hit our screens since March, and read on to learn about all the new rules, regulations and TV enhancements that have been put in place.

PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN COVID MEASURES

The reintroduction of the Premier League will see managers, coaches and players subject to newly introduced Covid-19 measures, in an effort to ensure the safety of all those present at games. Televised fixtures will also undergo ‘broadcasting enhancements’ as a way to mitigate the behind-closed-doors matchday experience.

As per the implemented safety measures, players will not shake hands at the beginning of each fixture and are encouraged to refrain from spitting and clearing their nose while on the pitch. Additionally, during goal celebrations, players have been asked to keep a reasonable distance between each other. Surrounding the match officials in any case of controversy is out and ball boys and ball girls have been removed, with spare balls being lined up around the pitch.

Teams can bring a bigger matchday squad, naming nine substitutes on the bench, with five allowed to enter the play per match. This change promises to add a new tactical dimension to the game – and perhaps favours the teams with big squads – while players and teams build up their match fitness in the coming weeks.

From a television standpoint, fans will enjoy the introduction of a tunnel camera and be given the option to add artificial crowd noise while they watch the game. Broadcasters will also be able to show live video feeds of pre-selected fans as a way “to improve the environment both visually and acoustically”.

Through these measures, it is hoped that the Premier League navigates a successful and safe return to football, while also providing spectators with a number of options to help them further enjoy their viewing experience.

Now that we know what to expect in terms of the regulations when we tune-in this Wednesday, let’s dive head-first into a preview of the upcoming fixtures.

PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN BETTING

Aston Villa

A restart button was exactly what Dean Smith’s side needed, as numerous defensive errors and unfortunate injuries throughout the season have seen them slip progressively down the table into the relegation zone. All hope of keeping Villa afloat will be placed upon the shoulders of local lad and captain, Jack Grealish, whose incredible performances have attracted the attention of a number of big clubs in the league. With a game in hand, a win against Sheffield United will propel the Villans up to 16th place, where they will find themselves just one point behind Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United have seen an immense resurgence since their return to the Premier League. Now in a seventh-place tussle for possible European places, the Blades have spent a season quietly capitalising on every point, refusing to lose against the teams currently around them. Manager Chis Wilder has stated that his players are in “brilliant condition” and will expect nothing less than a win, as the full three points will see The Blades climb above both Wolves and Manchester United and into fifth place.

ASTON VILLA VS SHEFFIELD UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Although the travelling team, Sheffield United head into the fixture as favourites at 6/5 (2.20), with Aston Villa’s chances measured at 47/20 (3.35).

Manchester City

Finding themselves in a lonely second-place spot, the reigning champions stand 25 points adrift of the runaway league leaders and five points ahead of Leicester City. As Pep Guardiola prepares his team to tackle a travelling Arsenal side, questions over the squad’s mentality have surfaced. Will Manchester City choose to focus on other competitions in an effort to secure silverware this season? We’ll soon find out.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta returns to the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday to face his former mentor, Pep Guardiola, in possibly the biggest test of his managerial career to date. With a renewed sense of optimism around the Emirates since the dismissal of Unai Emery, the Gunners have found some form, losing only once in their last 10 Premier League fixtures. Arteta will aim to use his inside knowledge of Guardiola’s approach to Arsenal’s favour, as a victory could not only shoot the Gunners up to sixth place but also send a clear message of intent to the teams around them.

MANCHESTER CITY VS ARSENAL: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Manchester City find themselves as strong favourites at 1/3 (1.33), with the chances of Arsenal causing an upset calculated at 79/10 (8.90).

PREVIEW: PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN

Get up to speed with the state of the league in our Premier League preview.

The English Premier League has been given the all-clear by authorities and will return to our screens on 17 June. Which means Premier League betting is set to return too.

Following a series of discussions and meetings held between all 20 of the Premier League clubs towards the end of last month, an agreement was made to ensure the return of the competition in mid-June. The first two fixtures scheduled to take place are Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United, followed by a full fixture list that weekend.

Highly valued positions in the table remain up for grabs, with only nine-points separating current fourth-place holders Chelsea from eleventh-place Crystal Palace. Join us as we take a look into the league table and remind ourselves who’s fighting for what!

League title and the battle for the Champions League

We’ll start our Premier League preview at the top. This season, Liverpool have ascended to total domination of the Premier League. As the league restarts, they’re in an incredible position up-front, with the title all but secured. With Klopp’s men needing a total of 87 points to claim their first league title in 30 years, two wins will see them move out of Manchester City’s grasp and be crowned champions of the Premier League.

Although it’s mathematically still possible for Manchester City to challenge for the title, Pep’s men will know that the dream of three Premier League titles in a row is lost to them. Secure in second place with a five-point gap and a game in hand, the Citizens will look to make the best out of the situation, and finish in second place as best of the rest.

Much like Manchester City, Leicester City find themselves relatively secure, hovering in third place with a five-point gap to Chelsea. Brendan Rodgers will want his team to look forward and not back and will be pushing them to challenge City for a possible second-place finish, setting them up nicely for Champions League football next season.

Three points away from fifth-spot, Chelsea find themselves leading an extremely tight pack of teams fighting for the valuable fourth Champions League place. Although many considered this season a write-off for the Blues due to their summer transfer ban, Frank Lampard’s squad has shown otherwise. Chelsea will hope to continue to be able to rely on their young talented group to secure crucial points against the odds.

The fight for Europa League

Manchester United find themselves fending off competition for a spot in the Europa League, only six points above eleventh place. Solskjaer will have bigger hopes for the Red Devils though, and no doubt have them focused on challenging Chelsea for a Champions League spot.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United are in similar situations. Equal on points and separated by a couple of goals, both sides will need to fight through the final games of the season for a Europa League place.

North London teams Tottenham and Arsenal have had similarly turbulent seasons, leading both clubs to change manager mid-way through the season. With Jose Mourinho and Mikel Arteta each having a point or two to prove, we’d be reluctant to rule either club out of a last-ditch effort to secure a European spot.

The battle to avoid relegation

With the restart of the league, AFC BournemouthAston Villa and Norwich City are forced to face the grim reality of their situation once again. All find themselves in the red, at the bottom of the table and in danger of relegation. Each club must view the resumption of the league as an opportunity to turn their fortunes around and pick-up some incredibly valuable points that could ensure their survival.

Premier League Betting

You can expect plenty of Premier League Betting options at EnergyBet to ensure you can make the most of the return of the biggest football league in the world. Join us as we enjoy not only the comeback of English football but lots of other sporting competitions around the world too.

Stay tuned to EnergyBetWorld as we’ll be previewing Europe’s other top leagues as well as this Premier League preview.

Premier League Season Preview

The 2018/19 Premier League season was a battle for the ages, featuring two of the best teams of the Premier League era: Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Both teams look set to do battle again in what should prove another exciting season.

Season 2018/19

In 25 of the 27 seasons since the Premier League was formed, Liverpool’s tally of 97 points would have won them the title. Unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp’s men, they ran into the only team ever to score more points, Pep’s Manchester City. Fresh off a 100-point season in 17/18, City would finish the season with 14 straight league wins to secure 98 points and a second successive league title.

The fight for the remaining Champions League places would prove a close one. Chelsea finished 3rd, just one point ahead of Tottenham in 4th. North London rivals Arsenal were a point and a place back in 5th. Manchester United rounded out the Top 6 and took the final Europa League group stage place. Wolves finished an impressive return to the top flight by finishing 7th and making it to the Europa League qualifiers.

At the bottom of the table, Huddersfield and Fulham would have their fates settled relatively early. Fulham proving to have the worst defence in the league, while Huddersfield could only manage three wins. Cardiff and Brighton took their battle for survival to the penultimate game of the season, with a loss to Crystal Palace sealing relegation for Cardiff.

Champions-elect?

MANCHESTER CITY Last season’s winners are favourites to repeat the feat and make it a three-peat by securing their third title in a row. Captain and club legend Vincent Kompany may have left without a direct replacement, but City have plenty of players to fill his role, both on and off the pitch. Club stalwart David Silva takes the captain’s armband while Fernandinho prepares to step into central defence when needed – with new record signing Rodri set to anchor the defence. Guardiola will hope to get a full season out of Kevin De Bruyne this time out, and bank on Raheem Sterling continuing his ascension to the top of the game.

LIVERPOOL – Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola can talk about an open title race all they want; nobody is buying it. Liverpool finished 25 points ahead of third-placed Chelsea last term. And with yet another change of manager and a transfer ban, The Blues are unlikely to overhaul them. Speaking of transfer bans, Liverpool seem to be operating under an almost self-imposed ban. Their signings having been restricted to teenagers and a back-up goalkeeper on a free transfer. Keep their first XI – and in particular the front three – fit, and there’s no reason The Reds can’t push City all the way in the league once more. Especially if City if allow themselves to get distracted in pursuit of feat that Klopp’s men managed last season, and City haven’t thus far come close to; winning the Champions League.

Relegation fodder?

SHEFFIELD UNITED / NORWICH CITY – Of course, the recently promoted sides are always favourites to be relegated back to whence they came. Over the past 10 seasons, on average, one of the three promoted sides will manage to survive. This time around, that side is likely to be Aston Villa, due to the heavy investment that the club has made in its playing staff – of note, Fulham did similar last year.

Norwich were the highest scoring side in the Championship last season thanks to their attacking brand of football. Unfortunately, they were also pretty open at the back, conceding 57 goals in their league campaign. If they are to survive, they’ll need to be much more solid. Sheffield Utd were very much the opposite and finished the season with the best defensive record in the division. They’ll be hoping that captain Billy Sharp will be able to fire in enough goals to keep them up.

BURNLEY / BRIGHTON – If one of the promoted sides is likely to stay up, then one of the existing teams is likely to go down. The most likely suspects are Burnley and Brighton, with neither side having invested heavily in new players in the transfer window. Both sides struggle to score goals and this will perhaps be the cause of their downfall. Brighton are as reliant as ever on ageing striker Glenn Murray, who was responsible for over a third of their goals last season. Burnley and shots on goal – at either end – do not go hand in hand. Last season no side had few shots than The Clarets. On the plus side, no side allowed fewer shots than Sean Dyche’s men. And when they did create chances, those chances were normally of high quality. They’ll be hoping that returning striker Jay Rodriguez can stick a few of them in the back of the net.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Manchester City are favourites to win the title at 1/2 (1.50) while Liverpool find themselves at 13/5 (3.60). Nobody else is considered to be in with a genuine shot, with Spurs the best of the rest and given odds of 18/1 (19.00) to win the Premier League. There are a number of teams grouped in as relegation candidates, Sheffield United are 2/3 (1.66), Norwich are 9/10 (1.90), Burnley and Brighton are both 13/7 (2.85) while Aston Villa are 2/1 (3.00). When it comes to topping the scoring charts, Harry Kane is favourite 4/1 (5.00). Last seasons joint top-scorers are priced as follows, Mo Salah at 5/1 (16.00), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 8/1 (9.00) and Sadio Mane at 12/1 (13.00).

Manchester City vs Watford: FA Cup Final Betting Preview

On Saturday at 5pm, Manchester City seek a historic FA Cup Final victory over Watford that would make them the first team in history to secure a domestic treble comprising FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League.

It was a title race for the ages. A heavyweight battle that saw Manchester City and Liverpool push each other all the way to the final game of the league season. Ultimately, City would prevail, becoming the first side to win back-to-back league titles since 2009 and finishing the season with a scintillating run of 14 victories in a row. Having defeated Chelsea on penalties in the EFL Cup Final back in February, the FA Cup Final is the last remaining hurdle in the pursuit of a historic domestic treble.

Manchester City

At this point, it feels like stating the obvious when making the case that this Manchester City team may very well be the best side of the Premier League era. Having posted a record-breaking 100 points in 2017/18, City followed it up with a 98-point season that left Liverpool behind them, with the highest ever points total for a 2nd placed team. Champions League aside, they have been all-conquering.

For City, progress through the FA Cup has been more sedate than their league campaign. Five-time winners of the FA Cup, last lifting the trophy in 2011, City have eliminated Rotherham, Burnley, Newport, Swansea and Brighton en-route to reaching this year’s final. Whilst a Champions League victory represents the ultimate goal for Manchester City, becoming the first team to ever complete a domestic treble will surely go some way to softening the blow of once again coming up short in European competition.

Watford

Watford reached their first final since 1984 having progressed from arguably the tie of the tournament. With a little over 12 minutes left of the 90, Watford looked dead and buried, 2-0 down to Wolves in the semi-final. Enter Gerard Deulofeu; the former Barcelona man giving the Hornets a sniff at a comeback with an impudent curling shot in the 78th minute. Extra-time was brought about from the penalty spot, when Troy Deeney smashed home an equaliser, before glory – and one of the greatest FA Cup comebacks of all time – was delivered when Deulofeu slotted home in extra-time.

Watford have had a good season, finishing three positions higher and nine points better off than the previous season. However, they will likely enter this game feeling that they could have achieved more in the league. Finishing the season with three losses in a row meant that Watford finished in the bottom half of the table in Javi Gracia’s first full season in charge.

MANCHESTER CITY VS WATFORD: FA CUP FINAL BETTING ODDS

Manchester City are overwhelming favourites for victory against Watford at 5/22 (1.23). Despite their fairy-tale comeback in the semi-final, Watford are firm outsiders at 10/1 (11.00) to lift the trophy.

Manchester City vs Watford: FA Cup Final Betting Tips

Manchester City have been unstoppable in domestic competition over the past months, having won 18 fixtures in a row in the Premier League, EFL Cup and FA Cup. Watford meanwhile have lost three in a row and suffered defeat twice at the hands of The Citizens this season. We, therefore, cannot see anything other than a City win.

Of note, in both games against Manchester City in the league, Watford were able to get on the scoresheet while losing, with semi-final hero Gerard Deulofeu bagging a goal in the 3-1 defeat at the Etihad. We can see Watford grabbing a goal again, so back Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 9/5 (2.80).*Odds subject to change. Odds correct at time of going to print.

Premier League: The Title Contenders – Betting Preview

On Sunday, the epic fight to be crowned champions of the Premier League will be concluded as Manchester City face Brighton, and Liverpool take on Wolves.

It’s been a title race for the ages. A ding-dong battle that’s seen two of the greatest sides in Premier League history push each other all the way to the final fixture, and in doing so achieve almost unprecedented levels of performance in the process. Will Manchester City be the first side to retain the title in 10 years? Or will Liverpool secure their first league title success for 29 years?

Brighton vs Manchester City

Despite being without a win in eight fixtures, The Seagulls were able to secure their Premier League status for next season with a couple of draws against Arsenal and Newcastle. Chris Hughton’s men go into this fixture with nothing to play for except pride and the hope that they might improve upon their performance from when the two sides met earlier in the season – City comprehensively winning 2-0 with a whopping 81% possession.

Man City are unbeaten in the Premier League since January. An incredible run of 13 league victories in a row has seen City overhaul title-rivals Liverpool; who had a seven-point cushion over Pep’s men at the start of the run. While Champions League success has proven as elusive as ever for The Citizens, this side still has the chance to break new ground. Having already won the Carabao Cup, City remain in contention for a historic domestic treble. Historic because no side has ever won the League, FA Cup and League Cup in a single season.

Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

In almost any other season, Jurgen Klopp’s side would be runaway champions and lauded as one of the greatest sides in Premier League history. But this isn’t any other season. So, despite suffering only one loss all season, and accumulating higher points tally than Manchester United ever have, Liverpool could find themselves missing out on the trophy that has eluded them for almost 30 years. They come into the fixture high on confidence, with Salah set to return and a spring in their step thanks to the logic-defying win over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.

Having secured 7th spot and European football, Wolves can justifiably consider themselves the ‘best of the rest’. They have a great record against the top 6, their style suited to absorbing pressure and striking on the counter, as both Arsenal and Manchester United have found in recent fixtures. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has also beaten Liverpool once already this season. However, the victory came in the FA Cup, at Molineux, against a second-string Liverpool side that featured a 16-year-old debutant at centre back. Liverpool in the league at Anfield, where they are unbeaten for over two years, is a very different proposition.

PREMIER LEAGUE: THE TITLE CONTENDERS BETTING ODDS

Manchester City are overwhelming favourites for victory against Brighton at 1/6 and 1/10 to win the Premier League. Liverpool are favourites against Wolves, priced at 1/3 but clear outsiders for the title at 6/1.

Premier League: The Title Contenders – betting tips

With both title contenders in such great form and strong favourites in their respective fixtures, we can’t see any result other than both sides winning. To find value it’s best to step outside the title race and look at the other title on the line, for a few of the players involved in this fixture, Premier League top scorer.

Mo Salah currently occupies the top spot on 22 goals, with Sergio Aguero and Sadio Mane both on 20 goals apiece. Given Brighton’s defensive woes this season, it’s not inconceivable that Aguero could net a hat-trick, and Wolves keep Salah – who returns from a concussion – at bay. After all, Sergio Aguero has 10 Premier League hat-tricks to his name, putting second on the all-time list behind Alan Shearer. Back Sergio Aguero to finish Top Goalscorer at 4/1.

Manchester City vs Leicester City Betting Preview

On Monday night, Leicester City travel to Manchester City in hopes of completing a league double over the reigning champions.

Premier League leaders Manchester City are aiming for a 13th successive victory in the league as they attempt to stay ahead of challengers Liverpool. Leicester City, managed by former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, registered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Arsenal in their last outing. The Foxes remain in contention for European qualification and are just three points behind seventh-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City

Since a December wobble, which saw defeats to both Leicester City and Newcastle United, Manchester City have been imperious in the league, winning 13 games on the bounce. Having bombed out of the Champions League, domestic success (and a possible treble winning season) is the primary focus for Pep Guardiola’s men.

The Citizens will be looking for a much stronger performance than they produced when losing the corresponding fixture earlier in the season. Central to success will be Sergio Aguero, who would equal his best ever season for PL home goals if he hits the back of the net on Monday. His current record for goals at the Etihad Stadium stands at 16 strikes in the 2011/12 season. Recently crowned as Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, Raheem Sterling will hope to see his outstanding form continue to the end of the season.

Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers once again has a hand in affecting a Manchester City chase for the Premier League title, having been involved in a title fight with Manchester’s boys in blue as boss of Liverpool back in 2013/14. While he claims he’s thinking only about the benefits of victory for current club Leicester City, there’s no doubt that victory at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night will be of huge help to his former club.

Since taking over from Claude Puel in February, Rodgers has led his side to a record of five wins, one draw and two losses from eight games. The run has kept them in contention for a possible European place as they currently sit just three points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers heading into the final two games of the season. While Wolves face an already relegated side in Fulham, victory is not a foregone conclusion for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men with the side from Craven Cottage having won three on the bounce under Scott Parker. Wolves also face title challengers Liverpool on the last day of the season so Leicester won’t be counting themselves out of competing in European competition next season, just yet.

MANCHESTER CITY VS LEICESTER CITY PREMIER LEAGUE ODDS AT ENERGYBET

Manchester City head into this Premier League clash as firm favourites for victory at 3/20 (1.15). Despite having one win against Manchester City already in the bank this season, Leicester City are very much outsiders to win at 17/1 (18.00).

Manchester City vs Leicester City betting tips

Guardiola’s men may be firm favourites to win, but The Foxes are sure to register a goal, having scored in their last 10 away fixtures. In Jamie Vardy, they also have the player with more goals (31) against the current top six than any other player in the competition. Back Man City to win and both teams to score at 47/20 (2.35).

Manchester Utd vs Manchester City Betting Preview

On Wednesday night, Manchester City visit Old Trafford to play Manchester United, in a Manchester derby that has far-reaching implications for both teams in the Premier League

Despite their shocking performance in a 4-0 annihilation by Everton at the weekend, Manchester United should still provide the biggest obstacle in Manchester City’s quest to become the first team to retain the Premier League title since United themselves performed the feat in 2008-09.

Manchester United

At this point, it’s clear that United are in need of a complete overhaul. Deadweight – plenty of which was on show at the weekend – needs to be cut from the squad and replaced with players of quality. To help attract such players, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to be able to offer the promise of Champions League football. Finishing in the top 4 is the utmost priority for the club. Victory against Manchester City would help in this pursuit.

Following Chelsea’s draw against Burnley on Monday night, Manchester United currently occupy sixth position in the table, three points behind Chelsea in fourth place. With a game in hand over Chelsea, United have the chance to draw level with the blues courtesy of victory over Pep’s men. This would set them up nicely for their next fixture, another huge clash, against Chelsea at the weekend.

Manchester City

Manchester City meanwhile, continue in their attempts to stay ahead of Liverpool in the race for the league title. Having been dumped from the Champions League by Spurs, City bounced back with a league victory over the north London club at the weekend. Such a result was imperative now that the Premier League is firmly placed as City’s number one priority.

Despite Man Utd being 29/5 (6.80) for victory, City will view them as their last big test in their march to the title. Attain victory at Old Trafford and City have a strong chance to continue their winning run – currently 10 in a row – all the way until the end of the season; with only Burnley, Leicester City and Brighton to come.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS MANCHESTER CITY ODDS AT ENERGYBET

Whilst Manchester City’s odds have them as favourites to win at 7/15 (1.47), and they have a strong recent record at Old Trafford (City are unbeaten in their last 3 visits with Pep Guardiola aiming to become the first visiting manager in PL history to win three consecutive games at O.T.) local derbies are never a walk-over. Especially when one of the teams is the proverbial ‘wounded animal’. Right now, many players in that United squad are not only playing for victory – at odds of 29/5 (6.80) – but also playing for their futures.

Manchester United vs Manchester City betting tips

Despite their drubbing at the hands of The Toffees, Man Utd should not be completely dismissed as a threat by Man City. United should be highly motivated by the need to save face. Anything other than maximum effort will see a less-than-happy response from the 70,000+ United fans in attendance. Additionally, Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League matches at home and have scored at least two goals in nine of the last 10.

They do however retain a soft underbelly, having kept only two clean sheets at home in the competition this season, the joint-fewest alongside Fulham. With City as free-scoring as ever, this fixture almost guarantees goals. With Man City such strong favourites, the smart money is on Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 3/2 (2.50).

Tottenham v Man City Betting Tips

Tottenham v Man City promises to be a great game on Monday night as both teams play an attacking style of football and have two of the worlds best strikers on show in Kane and Aguero. With Tottenham recording their best ever start to a Premier League campaign, they can overtake Man City in the table with a win at Wembley.

These games see plenty of goals with 9 goals scored in Premier League fixtures between both clubs last season with Man City winning 3-1 at Wembley and beating Tottenham 4-1 at home.

After putting 5 past Burnley last weekend and scoring 3 in Champions League in midweek, Pep’s team are free scoring and Tottenham’s defence will need to be switched on to stop the City strikers.

Match Odds :  Tottenham 16/5  (4.20)            Draw 59/20 (3.95)          Manchester City 7/9 (1.77)

Premier league 18/19

Man City have scored the most goals so far this season scoring 26, averaging just under 3 goals a game. Defensively, they have only conceded 3 goals in their 9 games so far. As well as Liverpool and Chelsea, Man City are still unbeaten.

For Spurs, they have lost at home to Liverpool and away at Watford and apart from these two matches, they have won 7 of their 9 matches.

Tottenham v Man City Betting Tips

Man City are 7/9 (1.77) favourites to win the game and continue their unbeaten start to the season. For Tottenham to win and inflict a first defeat on the Premier League Champions is priced at 16/5 (4.20). The draw can be backed at 59/20 (3.95)

Tottenham v Man City Betting Tips

With the talent on show, Tottenham v Man City should deliver plenty of goals and both teams to score is priced at odds of  5/9 (1.56)

With a shade of odds on to win, to back Man City at a better price, take the 39/20 (2.95) on offer for Man City to win and both teams to score. This would be our value pick.

In goalscorer market Harry Kane is  21/20 (2.05) to score anytime and 4/1 (5.0) to score first. For Man City Sergio Aguero is the key talisman and priced at 33/10 (4.30) to open the scoring. He has a good record against Spurs and primed to have a big game.

A couple of correct scores of interest would be Man City to win 3-1 at odds of 10/1 (11.0) and 3-2 priced at 16/1 (17.0)

Good luck with your bets. Odds correct at time of going to print.
