EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 38

The Premier League draws to a close this weekend with English teams taking to the field for the final time in the nation’s top flight. Although Liverpool will go down as the deserved champions of the 19/20 season, history remains to be written elsewhere, with teams battling it out for survival and European qualification.

Join us as we take a look into the final round of fixtures in the English Premier League and preview some exciting options for EPL Betting in week 38.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Leicester City

This Sunday, Leicester City play Manchester United in a winner-takes-all final-day showdown. With both teams aware that only the full three points will guarantee a place amongst Europe’s elite next season – and the accompanying financial rewards – the clash promises to be a vital and epic finale to the turbulent 19/20 EPL season.

The Foxes head into the game in fifth place, just a single point behind both Chelsea and Manchester United. Brendan Rodgers will be on the back foot this weekend, unable to play his strongest lineup as James Maddison, Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira are all currently sidelined due to injury, while defender Caglar Soyuncu serves a suspension.

Leicester fans will place their hopes of Champions League football on the shoulders of Jamie Vardy, who stands on a current tally of 23 goals and is in prime position to claim his first Golden Boot. The striker is at 23/20 (2.15), to score anytime against the Red Devils.

Manchester United

Manchester United’s resurgence has slowed after two league draws against Southampton and West Ham. Their failure to fully capitalise on the results of teams around them has left them vulnerable and in the middle of a three-way fight for a spot in the top-four. Although currently third in the table, the Red Devils find themselves level on points with Chelsea and only a single point away from their opponents Leicester City in fifth place.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are to succeed, hopes will hinge on Bruno Fernandes to once again turn the cogs of the Manchester United machine and secure the win and a place in the Champions League.

Having won 1-0 in their previous fixture at home to the Foxes earlier this season courtesy of a converted Rashford penalty, Manchester United have the opportunity to do the league-double over a wounded Leicester City side.

LEICESTER CITY VS MANCHESTER UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Edging it as favourites, Manchester United are fancied at 5/4 (2.25) to win, with Leicester City sporting odds of 9/4 (3.25).

Chelsea

Having suffered a demoralising 5-3 defeat to champions Liverpool on Wednesday, Chelsea ensured their fight for a top-four finish goes down to the wire.

Although a single point will be enough for the Blues to qualify for European football’s premier competition, Frank Lampard will ask his players to relish the pressure, secure a win, and make a statement on the pitch before their upcoming FA Cup final against Arsenal.

Chelsea have won eight out of their last 11 Premier League fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and should be able to deploy enough firepower to swing the result their way. All subject, of course, to their shaky defence being able to withstand the pace and power of the Wolves attack.

Chelsea’s French striker Olivier Giroud is at 3/2 (2.50), to continue his immense form and bang in a goal this Sunday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

If not for a few poor showings on the road, Wolverhampton Wanderers could have already successfully booked their ticket into the Europa League for next season. With just a point separating them from seventh-place Tottenham, a win against Chelsea this Sunday will see their fantastic season end with a top-six finish.

If their previous encounter against the Blues, which ended in a 5-2 defeat at the Molineux Stadium, is anything to go by, this weekend’s matchup is set to be a cracking affair between two teams desperate for the three points.

CHELSEA VS WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Chelsea are favourites at 6/7 (1.86) to win, and secure a top-four spot, while Wolves are measured at 13/4 (4.25), to go on and ruin the day of many Londoners.

Arsenal

Arsenal fans will be relieved to see the end of the Premier League season after their final fixture against Watford this Sunday. Although they have virtually nothing to play for – European qualification via the league having slipped beyond their grasp – the Arsenal manager has already expressed his desire to end the season strongly, mindful that a positive result could help confidence ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea on 1 August.

Knowing the catastrophic implications of an injury to a star man, Arteta may look to rest one or two of his key players. As their starting XI for the FA Cup final will remain undecided until the day, Arsenal’s young guns will stand ready to showcase their talent in this fixture and petition the manager for an opportunity to feature in the final.

Arsenal’s top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is at 5/7 (1.71), to add another goal to his tally and a great option for EPL betting in week 38.

Watford

Things went from bad to worse for Watford after a heavy 4-0 defeat to Manchester City last Tuesday was exacerbated by Trezeguet’s volley, gifting relegation rivals Aston Villa a win. As things stand, the Hornets go into their final game of the season equal on 34 points with Villa but in the relegation zone due to their inferior goal difference.

In their previous fixture against the Gunners they were able to turn a two-goal deficit into a 2-2 draw; caretaker manager Hayden Mullins knows that his team must go one better this time out to lessen the threat of relegation.

With their fate not entirely in their own hands, Hornet fans will be keeping one eye fixed on Aston Villa, where a loss by a margin of over two goals may keep Watford in the Premier League regardless of a low-scoring loss against Arsenal.

ARSENAL VS WATFORD: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Home-side advantage plays into the hands of Arsenal as they find themselves at 14/5 (1.93) to win, while Watford are at 27/10 (3.70), to take the full three points.

EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 35

The intense rivalry to claim bragging rights in north London is the highlight of the Premier League this weekend, while the fight for spots amongst Europe’s elite continues to bubble up. Join us as we dive into the Premier League and offer up some interesting options for EPL betting in week 35.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Tottenham

A 0-0 bore draw against Bournemouth on Thursday would certainly not have been the kind of preparation Tottenham fans would consider ideal with a north London derby looming. Having won just two of their last 10 fixtures, Mourinho must push his team to step up and pick up the pace for one of the Premier League’s biggest fixtures of the season.

Eric Dier will not feature due to a recently imposed four-game ban, so Spurs may have to set up differently for their first north London derby at their new stadium. With their team currently sat in the middle of the table, Spurs fans know that a win against Arsenal could push them into the centre of the battle for Europa League qualification, with three points possibly hoisting them up into sixth place.

Arsenal

A red card for Nketiah’s late challenge on James Justin last Tuesday saw Arsenal go down to 10 men and ultimately concede against Leicester City, in what became their 14th draw of the season. Now on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions, the Gunners travel the short distance across the capital to take on their fiercest rivals in a north London derby that should be highly competitive, despite the lack of fan attendance.

With the usual pre-match mind games between Mourinho and the Gunners already catching the attention of the public, Arsenal fans know their team must push aside their dreadful record against the Portuguese manager and capitalise on a shaky Tottenham team. Having scored for Arsenal in the previous 2-2 encounter with Spurs, why not consider Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fire in another goal this Sunday at 13/12 (2.08) as an option for EPL betting in week 35?

TOTTENHAM VS ARSENAL: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

In what looks to be one of the closest games this weekend, Tottenham come out slightly ahead at 8/5 (2.60) to win, with Arsenal’s chances measured at 17/10 (2.70).

Sheffield United

Having put together a three-match unbeaten run, Sheffield United welcome Chelsea to Bramall Lane this Saturday, in what is a must-win fixture for both sides. With John Egan’s late strike against Wolves last Wednesday moving Sheffield United to within a single point of sixth place, three points this weekend could spell a possible Europa League finish for the side that were battling it out in the championship last season.

Although Chelsea look unstoppable at the moment, Chris Wilder will take confidence from his side’s previous encounter against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Chelsea

Chelsea look to defend their newly acquired third place, as the Blues sit one point above Leicester City in the Premier League table. Boasting five wins out of six since the restart, the London team go into their Saturday fixture having bagged eight goals in their last three games.

Although history and form are on their side, Chelsea have a few injuries to worry about, most notably Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante. Securing three points away to Sheffield United with a weakened midfield could prove trickier for the Blues than initially anticipated.

SHEFFIELD UNITED VS CHELSEA: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Chelsea come out on top as favourites at 3/5 (1.60) to win, with Sheffield United at 26/5 (6.20), to cause an upset.

Manchester United

Having entered the record books by winning their fourth consecutive game by a three-goal margin against Aston Villa last Thursday, Manchester United look like they’re back to their best ahead of a home fixture to Southampton.

Unbeaten since the restart of the league and currently on a five-game winning streak, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will demand his team continue their pursuit of Champions League football, and reestablish themselves amongst the higher echelons of European football. Regardless of Manchester United’s current standing in the game, Mason Greenwood is one of the young starlets of the sport across the continent right now; why not back the 18-year old to score for the Red Devils at 7/6 (2.17)?

Southampton

Three wins, a loss and a draw since the restart of the league has left Southampton in 12th place, battling it out amongst the mid-table teams. With a comfortable 16-point gap from the relegation zone, the Saints have picked up at points an outstanding rate for a team with seemingly nothing left to play for.

Southampton fans will look to their top scorer, Danny Ings, to add to his 19-goal Premier League tally. The Saints should take the battle to the Red Devils at Old Trafford as Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team have already shown they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with Manchester United having secured a home 1-1 draw earlier this season.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS SOUTHAMPTON: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

On account of their recent form and home advantage, Manchester United march into the fixture as favourites at 2/7 (1.28) to win, with the chances of the travelling side, Southampton calculated at 9/1 (10.00).

EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 31

We’ll explore your options for EPL betting in Week 31 as English football teams continue to find their feet in the latest set of crowd-less, socially distanced fixtures that are set to take place in the next few days.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Manchester United

Following another mistake from goalkeeper David de Gea, the Red Devils found themselves chasing a well-organised Tottenham team for most of the game last Friday. Victory for former manager Jose Mourinho would prove elusive though, as Eric Dier’s late shove on Paul Pogba gifted United the chance to share the points, with Bruno Fernandes converting their 11th penalty of the season.

Now unbeaten across 12 games in all competitions, Manchester United welcome Sheffield United to Old Trafford this Wednesday. As things stand, fifth place will be good enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team to gain entry into the Champions League (Man City’s appeal pending). Still, Manchester United must avoid a repeat of their previous 3-3 draw earlier this season to guarantee their spot, as teams below them will be looking to capitalise on any dropped points.

Sheffield United

It’s safe to say that the restart of the league has not gone the way Sheffield United would have wanted. A highly controversial decision not to award a clear goal against Aston Villa, and a red-card followed by a flurry of three goals conceded against Newcastle, has left the Blades at odds with their previous form this season.

With a difficult game against Manchester United up next, Chris Wilder must sharpen his Blades and get them back to the mentality that saw them attain one of the best defensive records in the league – second only to the league leaders.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS SHEFFIELD UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

As the home team, Manchester United at 5/12 (1.42) to win, come out very much on top with Sheffield United measured at 81/10 (9.10).

Liverpool

Liverpool will entertain Crystal Palace this Wednesday as the league leaders return to Anfield for the first time in almost three months. Coming off an uninspiring 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby last weekend, the Reds are now just five points away from securing their first Premier League title in over 30 years.

Klopp’s men will be bolstered against the Eagles by the return to the starting XI of both Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson. While Liverpool can’t win the title against Palace, a win will mean that the Reds could potentially claim the Premier League title at the home of current champions, Manchester City, on 2 July.

Crystal Palace

It’s been a season of exceeding expectations for Palace who are looking to secure some form of European football for the next season and remain positioned to record their best-ever Premier League points tally. A 2-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend propelled the Eagles into the top half of the League, positioning them at the centre of a mid-table battle, right-between Arsenal and Tottenham.

Heading into the fixture with a degree of positivity, Roy Hodgson will hope that his team are capable of emulating their emphatic 2-1 victory at Anfield back in April 2017, which, incidentally, was the last time this Liverpool team lost at their home ground in the Premier League.

LIVERPOOL VS CRYSTAL PALACE: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Probably the most predictable odds in EPL betting for week 31, Liverpool are at 13/50 (1.26) to win, enter the matchup as strong favourites, with the odds of Crystal Palace causing an upset calculated at 13/1 (13.00).

Chelsea

Five minutes after coming on versus Aston Villa last weekend, super-sub Christian Pulisic made an immediate impact, scoring a goal and inspiring Chelsea’s 2-1 comeback victory. Although currently safe and five points clear of fifth place, the Blues’ fortunes could turn as they prepare themselves for a home fixture against a roaring Manchester City side this midweek.

Lampard will know that Chelsea’s rivals will bank on his team losing points this Thursday. Should they lose and their form suffers during a relatively tough stretch of fixtures to close out the season, Chelsea can still be caught by those below. The previous fixture between the sides finished with a City victory, 2-1 at the Etihad.

Manchester City

Manchester City have made an exceptional comeback to the Premier League, scoring eight goals without conceding, and securing six points in their first two matches. For the first time since the restart, Pep’s team will need to travel south for their first away fixture.

With the bad news of Sergio Aguero’s possible season-ending injury circulating around Manchester, the responsibility of goal-scoring responsibilities will fall on other members of the squad. Fortunately for City, the likes of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez have both impressed since the restart. Pep’s men will need to be on their toes because while the previous fixture between the sides ended in victory for the Citizens, their last Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge ended in a 2-0 defeat.

CHELSEA VS MANCHESTER CITY: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

The away side enter the fixture as favourites, with Manchester City at 26/33 (1.79) to win, while Chelsea are fancied at 4.15 (63/20) to cause an upset.

EPL BETTING PREVIEW: WEEK 30

With the preliminary midweek games out of the way, English football returns to its rightful place as the highlight of a football-filled weekend.

Join us as we take a closer look at some options for EPL betting in Week 30 and examine some of the headline fixtures taking place in the next few days.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING

Tottenham

Currently seven points off the top four, Tottenham’s 2019-20 campaign had seemingly faltered under the weight of recurring defensive errors and hard-hitting injuries. With captain and talisman Harry Kane returning to fitness from injury, Spurs are now much better placed to finish the season competitively. Jose Mourinho will look to stoke the fire within his players in an effort to reignite their fight for a Champions League place and close the gap on their opponents in the table.

Manchester United

While Manchester United fans can only glance enviously at their fiercest rivals at the top of the table – both City and Liverpool are beyond reach, Champions League qualification is still very much within their grasp. With a European ban looming for Manchester City – appeal pending obviously, fifth place could well secure a spot in Europe’s top competition. While Sheffield United and Wolves separate the Red Devils and Spurs, the North London side are perhaps their biggest challengers for the position. A win, therefore, is vital.

TOTTENHAM VS MANCHESTER UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Although they are the home-side, Tottenham come out as underdogs at 39/20 (2.95) to win, with Manchester United measuring up at 7/5 (2.40).

Everton

With his side mired in mid-table, Carlo Ancelotti will hope that his players were able to use the mid-season hiatus as a chance to study that tactical system he’s been trying to implement since taking the reigns in December. The Toffees return to football with an immensely challenging home derby against runaway league-leaders Liverpool this Sunday. Will Everton have the firepower to delay the inevitable? Or will they be dispatched as they so often have in recent years by their rivals?

Liverpool

There’s still the potential for this to be a truly historic season for Liverpool. Klopp’s men resume the season way out-front in the league with an astounding 82 points. Having dropped points only twice in 29 games, the Reds will be pumped to return back to their winning ways come this Sunday. As Liverpool cross to Goodison Park, Jordan Henderson and co will be focused on securing three of the final six points necessary to become champions.

EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

As is almost always the case this season, Liverpool find themselves as strong favourites at 20/33 (1.61) to win, with the chances of Everton causing an upset calculated at 23/5 (5.60).

Watford

Chaos, disappointment and questionable tactics have left a ragged Watford team fighting just above relegation places. On the plus side, an extraordinary 3-0 hammering of a then-unbeaten Liverpool side in Watford’s last home game showed the naysayers that the Hornets have the potential to push themselves out of the danger zone. With their first match back against a strong third-place Leicester City team, Watford will need to hit the ground running to fulfil their ambition of securing another season in the Premier League.

Leicester City

A full 103 days after their last competitive game, Leicester City will return to the pitch in an away fixture at Watford this Saturday.  With the aim of their season – clinching a Champions League spot – within touching distance, Brendan Rodgers will have his Foxes hungry for points to realise their European dream. There’s also the ever so small possibility that they could challenge Manchester City for second place, should Pep’s men turn their focus to other competitions where they still stand a chance of picking up silverware.

WATFORD VS LEICESTER CITY: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

No surprises as Leicester City come into this fixture as favourites at 9/8 (2.13) to win. Watford have odds of 5/2 (3.50) to secure a much-needed victory.

PREVIEW: PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN

Get up to speed with the state of the league in our Premier League preview.

The English Premier League has been given the all-clear by authorities and will return to our screens on 17 June. Which means Premier League betting is set to return too.

Following a series of discussions and meetings held between all 20 of the Premier League clubs towards the end of last month, an agreement was made to ensure the return of the competition in mid-June. The first two fixtures scheduled to take place are Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United, followed by a full fixture list that weekend.

Highly valued positions in the table remain up for grabs, with only nine-points separating current fourth-place holders Chelsea from eleventh-place Crystal Palace. Join us as we take a look into the league table and remind ourselves who’s fighting for what!

League title and the battle for the Champions League

We’ll start our Premier League preview at the top. This season, Liverpool have ascended to total domination of the Premier League. As the league restarts, they’re in an incredible position up-front, with the title all but secured. With Klopp’s men needing a total of 87 points to claim their first league title in 30 years, two wins will see them move out of Manchester City’s grasp and be crowned champions of the Premier League.

Although it’s mathematically still possible for Manchester City to challenge for the title, Pep’s men will know that the dream of three Premier League titles in a row is lost to them. Secure in second place with a five-point gap and a game in hand, the Citizens will look to make the best out of the situation, and finish in second place as best of the rest.

Much like Manchester City, Leicester City find themselves relatively secure, hovering in third place with a five-point gap to Chelsea. Brendan Rodgers will want his team to look forward and not back and will be pushing them to challenge City for a possible second-place finish, setting them up nicely for Champions League football next season.

Three points away from fifth-spot, Chelsea find themselves leading an extremely tight pack of teams fighting for the valuable fourth Champions League place. Although many considered this season a write-off for the Blues due to their summer transfer ban, Frank Lampard’s squad has shown otherwise. Chelsea will hope to continue to be able to rely on their young talented group to secure crucial points against the odds.

The fight for Europa League

Manchester United find themselves fending off competition for a spot in the Europa League, only six points above eleventh place. Solskjaer will have bigger hopes for the Red Devils though, and no doubt have them focused on challenging Chelsea for a Champions League spot.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United are in similar situations. Equal on points and separated by a couple of goals, both sides will need to fight through the final games of the season for a Europa League place.

North London teams Tottenham and Arsenal have had similarly turbulent seasons, leading both clubs to change manager mid-way through the season. With Jose Mourinho and Mikel Arteta each having a point or two to prove, we’d be reluctant to rule either club out of a last-ditch effort to secure a European spot.

The battle to avoid relegation

With the restart of the league, AFC BournemouthAston Villa and Norwich City are forced to face the grim reality of their situation once again. All find themselves in the red, at the bottom of the table and in danger of relegation. Each club must view the resumption of the league as an opportunity to turn their fortunes around and pick-up some incredibly valuable points that could ensure their survival.

Premier League Betting

You can expect plenty of Premier League Betting options at EnergyBet to ensure you can make the most of the return of the biggest football league in the world. Join us as we enjoy not only the comeback of English football but lots of other sporting competitions around the world too.

Manchester United vs Leicester City: Betting Preview

On Saturday, Premier League action returns following the international break. Unbeaten Leicester City travel to Old Trafford to face a Manchester United side that is without a win since the opening day and facing a potential injury crisis.

The two sides enter this fixture with very different atmospheres surrounding each club. Utd are all doom and gloom; from the Pogba transfer saga over the summer to their less than convincing start to the season, the Red Devils have lost much of the early optimism that surrounded the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Leicester, meanwhile, have a spring in their step; they’re unbeaten and beginning to find their feet under Brendan Rodgers.

Manchester United

The term “injury crisis” is often bandied around without a great deal of justification. But in the case of Man Utd right now, it’s safe to say an injury crisis is looming. There are concerns over both full-backs, with particular concern over new signing – and one of the few bright lights in this early stage of the season – Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was forced to withdraw from the recent England squad; Jesse Lingard was also sent home by the Three Lions with illness. Paul Pogba didn’t make the France squad due to an ankle injury and Anthony Martial missed the last fixture due to a thigh issue.

Injury concerns aside, Utd have not looked a tidy outfit even with their strongest XI on show thus far this season. Last time out against Southampton they were unable to capitalise when Saints were reduced to 10 men, prior to that they suffered a home defeat to Crystal Palace. Ole Gunnar Solskjær will be hoping that new-signing Daniel James can continue the promising start that he’s made to his Utd career and that some of the players sidelined with minor injuries can make it back into the starting line-up.

Leicester City

Ordinarily, remaining undefeated after just four games wouldn’t be considered the most impressive achievement. But when the only other sides to match such a feat are Liverpool and Manchester City, it’s ok to feel yourself a little. And under Brendan Rodgers, that’s exactly what the Foxes are beginning to do.

With Jamie Vardy leading the line, Leicester are still as devastating on the counter-attack as ever. However, with Tielemans and Maddison firmly established in the side, Leicester have now added some extra dimensions to their game. Thanks to the creativity of the two youngsters – and the ability of both to play defence-splitting passes – Leicester are now better equipped than ever to operate against the low block just as well as on the counter. Against Utd at Old Trafford, they’ll no doubt be expecting to see less of the ball. But should Utd do what teams short of confidence tend to do, and retreat towards their own box, Leicester will feel confident of breaking them down.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS LEICESTER CITY: PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING ODDS

Despite losing their last home fixture to Palace, Manchester United are slight favourites to win at odds of 26/33 (1.79), while Leicester are priced at 7/2 (4.50).

Manchester United vs Leicester City: Premier League Betting Tips

Leicester City have an appalling record at Old Trafford and have not won at the home of Manchester United since 1998, but Palace didn’t exactly have a great record either and look what they were able to do. Times are changing and Utd are no longer the juggernaut they once were; their squad far from being the envy of the league – one could argue that in Chilwell, Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison and Vardy, Leicester have 5 players that would make it into the Utd starting XI. With that in mind, we’re backing Leicester to do a Palace and beat Utd, with a correct score of 1-2 at 11/1 (12.00).

Manchester Utd vs Manchester City Betting Preview

On Wednesday night, Manchester City visit Old Trafford to play Manchester United, in a Manchester derby that has far-reaching implications for both teams in the Premier League

Despite their shocking performance in a 4-0 annihilation by Everton at the weekend, Manchester United should still provide the biggest obstacle in Manchester City’s quest to become the first team to retain the Premier League title since United themselves performed the feat in 2008-09.

Manchester United

At this point, it’s clear that United are in need of a complete overhaul. Deadweight – plenty of which was on show at the weekend – needs to be cut from the squad and replaced with players of quality. To help attract such players, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to be able to offer the promise of Champions League football. Finishing in the top 4 is the utmost priority for the club. Victory against Manchester City would help in this pursuit.

Following Chelsea’s draw against Burnley on Monday night, Manchester United currently occupy sixth position in the table, three points behind Chelsea in fourth place. With a game in hand over Chelsea, United have the chance to draw level with the blues courtesy of victory over Pep’s men. This would set them up nicely for their next fixture, another huge clash, against Chelsea at the weekend.

Manchester City

Manchester City meanwhile, continue in their attempts to stay ahead of Liverpool in the race for the league title. Having been dumped from the Champions League by Spurs, City bounced back with a league victory over the north London club at the weekend. Such a result was imperative now that the Premier League is firmly placed as City’s number one priority.

Despite Man Utd being 29/5 (6.80) for victory, City will view them as their last big test in their march to the title. Attain victory at Old Trafford and City have a strong chance to continue their winning run – currently 10 in a row – all the way until the end of the season; with only Burnley, Leicester City and Brighton to come.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS MANCHESTER CITY ODDS AT ENERGYBET

Whilst Manchester City’s odds have them as favourites to win at 7/15 (1.47), and they have a strong recent record at Old Trafford (City are unbeaten in their last 3 visits with Pep Guardiola aiming to become the first visiting manager in PL history to win three consecutive games at O.T.) local derbies are never a walk-over. Especially when one of the teams is the proverbial ‘wounded animal’. Right now, many players in that United squad are not only playing for victory – at odds of 29/5 (6.80) – but also playing for their futures.

Manchester United vs Manchester City betting tips

Despite their drubbing at the hands of The Toffees, Man Utd should not be completely dismissed as a threat by Man City. United should be highly motivated by the need to save face. Anything other than maximum effort will see a less-than-happy response from the 70,000+ United fans in attendance. Additionally, Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League matches at home and have scored at least two goals in nine of the last 10.

They do however retain a soft underbelly, having kept only two clean sheets at home in the competition this season, the joint-fewest alongside Fulham. With City as free-scoring as ever, this fixture almost guarantees goals. With Man City such strong favourites, the smart money is on Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 3/2 (2.50).

Who Will Be Mourinho’s Main Man?

The transfer window is closed, and Manchester’s business is concluded

Who will make way for Sanchez? Where does the Chilean fit in?  Are the rumours of dressing room unrest true? Possibly some, but not all, of these questions will be answered during United’s home game against Huddersfield Town.

What will be answered is can Jose Mourinho’s men mount a serious challenge to their City rivals in the remaining half of the season.

What do you get if you cross a Seagull and a Hammer?

I have absolutely no idea but whatever it is don’t let it get sight of your chips. West Ham travel to the south coast to take on Brighton and for sure they will be hurting after being dumped out of the FA cup by Wigan. Will there be consequences? West Ham have been making progress of late but if they underestimate Brighton in the same way they did to Wigan then it will be a long journey home for the Londoners.

Burnley’s poor run of form could get poorer

Burnley are a tough side to beat. Unless you happen to be Manchester City. City beat Burnley 4-1 in an FA cup tie in January and although they don’t have home advantage at the weekend it would be a surprise to see any result other than a City win.

Game of the Weekend

Liverpool play Tottenham in what is surely the game of the weekend. The result may be determined on just which Liverpool team turn up though. If the Reds bring their ‘A’ game to the table (or the pitch) then they could still be in fourth spot come Monday morning. If, on the other hand they perform as badly as they did against Swansea and West Bromwich Albion then it could be advantage Tottenham.

Tottenham have also been somewhat inconsistent though, and it is this frailty between the two teams which makes this such an intriguing fixture. We do expect there to be goals though, so you may want to check out these specials that we have conjured up for you.

1025 Days of Hurt

Paul Lambert’s return to the Premier League sees Stoke city beat Huddersfield. It has been 1025 days since Paul Lambert has managed in the Premier League. Lambert was sacked from his role as Aston Villa manager in 2015 following their slide into the relegation zone. He replaced Mark Hughes who was dismissed by Stoke City for the same reason. Lambert watched from the stands as Stoke were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United on Monday. Fast forward to Saturday and his first real game in charge saw them beat Huddersfield 2-0. The win takes them one point off the relegation zone. Not exactly safe, but, moving in the right direction.

Do you think Paul Lambert is the man to keep Stoke City in the Premier League? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below…

Missed opportunity for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur missed an opportunity to go level with Liverpool as they could only manage a draw with Southampton. Spurs remain in fifth place after failing to beat the Saints. Mauricio Pellegrino though, whose job must surely be under scrutiny, will have been happy with a draw.

Hughton’s Brighton, humbled by Chelsea

Antonio Conte must have been happy with the way his side defeated Brighton. It was an impressive display from a Chelsea team oozing style and flair. Despite missing key players including the suspended Morata, Chelsea brushed aside Brighton, who have won only once in their last 13 games in the Premier League.

Who needs Sanchez anyway!

Manchester City dropped out of the race to sign Sanchez from Arsenal, which Pep Guardiola said was for financial reasons. This left Sergio Aguero in an enviable bargaining position come contract renewal day. Aguero hit a hat trick against Newcastle at the Etihad and again emphasised why he is so valuable to the Sky Blues.

Spirited display from Burnley earns Mourinho’s praise

Sean Dyche’s Burnley received praise from Mourinho following Manchester United’s hard fought 1-0 victory at Turf Moor. Mourinho admitted that Burnley’s hard, physical, direct style of play made it difficult for United. Only a moment of class by the often under-rated (by Mourinho) Anthony Martial, managed to break the deadlock. Curiously, Martial, who has scored in his last three games for the Reds, is one of the players who must feel most under threat with the pending arrival of Sanchez from Arsenal.

Millwall. Super Millwall!

Big shout out to EnergyBet partners Millwall for their amazing 4-3 victory over Leeds United at the weekend. The game saw two incredible come backs, as Millwall let a 2-0 lead slip away to be 3-2 down to the Yorkshire side with only three minutes to go. Millwall’s Tom Elliott levelled the scores in the 87th minute and victory was sealed with Jed Wallace’s stoppage time goal. These were 3 vital away points for Millwall, whose home form has been impressive, but they have been let down by some largely mediocre performances away from home.
