Manchester City produced a magnificent seven goal rout of Stoke City at the Etihad. This result puts them two points clear at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola must be feeling pretty smug right about now, having now seen his team score a whopping 24 goals in their last five games.
The goals came from, Gabriel Jesus (X2), Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Fernandinho, David Silva and Bernardo Silva.
Star of the show though, was Kevin de Bruyne. He showed exactly why many pundits consider him to be the best player in the Premier League right now with a brilliant display. In this game alone, he got more assists than many midfielders achieve in an entire season.
Roy Hodgson must have been showing his players videos of England’s defeat by Iceland in Euro 2016 during the international break. What else could account for Crystal Palace’s sudden transformation from Premier League whipping boys into giant killers on Saturday. Possibly fuelled with some sort of Icelandic warrior spirit, the Eagles defeated the EPL champions 2-1 in a repeat of the result they last enjoyed back in April, when Sam Allardyce was in charge. Chelsea have now suffered back to back defeats for the first time since Antonio Conte took over as manager.
